Amazon stands out as one of the few companies that can compete with the likes of powerful Google, but it is also in stiff competition with Apple and many other well known tech giants in key areas of the online media industries. Amazon recently launched the Kindle Fire, the first Android tablet to really compete with the iPad and the slue of other Android powered tablets on the market currently. Google and Apple have been in the cloud for a long time, with Amazon a relative newcomer — but already its music and storage services have gained popularity against iTunes and the Google cloud. Amazon has also fared well in the realm of streaming music and video, gaining a strong lead towards an upper hand over Netflix following a very bad year for the famous red-branded movie service that turned off millions of customers by changing its plans radically and threatening to split into two divisions.
This infographic is interesting because it gives a generalized overview of just how well Amazon is competing with companies that have not traditionally been in its peer group. Amazon has branched out from being primarily a book seller to a cyber big box store that sells everything under the sun, and has now expanded into several other categories.
